March 22, 2025  The Villa Panza and Modern Art **

Our host recommended the Villa Panza, a late 18th century villa well maintained by FAI (Italy's National Trust Foundation of historical things) to see both inside the villa and to view the extensive modern art collection housed there. We were all about seeing the inside of the villa, but, full disclosure, we aren't Modern Art fans.  After the 5th or 6th room of another large square hanging on the wall in a different color, I had to, with great exertion, hold in my giggles! The rest of my party were more mature. 😉 One more detail in my defense, I was using Google Translate on the audible setting because our tour was in Italian, and at times Google must have been making stuff up because, well.......here are my screen shots of the best ones. Would you have trouble NOT laughing?

I REST MY CASE!

The entrance to the villa.

A beautiful example of period furnishings and two art pieces on the wall.

Magnificent staircase and ceiling with art on the wall.

Old chair with art on the wall behind.

A classic example of a homo sapien from the mid 20th century and a piece of art on the wall.

Here are some of the lovely aspects of villa as it would have been at it's peak.

The ballroom.

The grounds outside.

We finished the day with gelato, cooking in the villa kitchen for the first time, and cards.

Clare cooking us noodles.
