Ola! Rod and the kids were troopers today and did a lot of running around. The elevator broke sometime after we stuffed it full of Rod and the luggage the night before, so that meant 6 flights of stairs every time we went out of the Airbnb apartment. I was battling a migraine and going up and down stairs made my heart pound and my headache worse, so I stayed home and watched the rain fall on and off all day. There were two musical groups that played down on the street this day. One group played big band music or something you might hear in New Orleans and one was an eight member college marching band. There is almost always some sort of music being played on the street below. We got some delicious Korean barbeque for dinner and started another Netflix series.
A view of the street from our apartment.
Clare watching the music groups.
Our view of the city skyline.
You can see the Mondego River, it leads to the Atlantic.
We couldn't see this group. It was in the street behind us. I'm filming out a bathroom window.
March 5-6, 2025. We have safely arrived in Tuscany! It was a total of 24 hours of continuous traveling from door to door (Allendale to Montelopio). The views and weather are worth it! The temperatures are highs in the upper 60s during the day and lows in the 40s at night. The "Core 4" (that's shorthand for Rod, Katie, Paul, and Clare) playing Euchre in the Chicago airport during our 5 hour layover. Our third and final flight from Munich to Florence. Crossing the Alps from Munich to Florence. Our views! An abandoned villa up the road.
March 8, 2025 Today we explored the town of Peccioli, Italy which has its origins dating back to medieval times. The town's most notable historical feature is the Pieve di San Verano church built around the 11th-12th century. We had our first gelato of the trip while in Peccioli. Yum!
