April 21, 2025   Hanging Around Coimbra and a Fish Dinner

We had a slow morning, played some Uno and ate lunch in. Some of us went souvenir shopping. We don't always buy items right away, we like to check everything out first and then go back. The weather was good so we took a walk over a nearby bridge to the other side of the Mondego River.  We walked along it for awhile and took photos of Coimbra from the other side of the river. Traffic was heavy when we got away from the pedestrian only street where our apartment is. Clare, Paul, and I got some boba tea while the others went up to the flat.

The Mondego River. It's quite wide and runs all the way out to the Atlantic.

On the bridge.

Looking back at Coimbra. The university sits on top of the hill.

Walking along the Mondego River.

Coimbra behind us.

We found a bench and watched the river flow by.

Pondering life.

For dinner, we found a Portuguese restaurant that cooks cod a hundred different ways. It was an experience for Simon to receive a meal with fins and a tail! The staff was friendly and teased Clare for ordering a pizza.

Simon's fish covered in mayo and prosciutto.

Rod got a bread bowl with cod, onions, and potatoes.

Collin's fish had port soaked onions and veggies.

Clare's pizza.

Paul's fish was similar to Simon's but less "fin-y". (Paul's word)

Mine was batter dipped cod, potatoes, egg, and onions baked in the oven.

Simon dissecting his meal.

We were glad there was no head!
