May 16, 2025  Casey to the Airport!


Rod and I took Casey to the Edinburgh Airport for her morning flight. We then came home to a slow morning, ate lunch, and Rod and the kids walked uptown for a few things. In the afternoon, we put a puzzle together that we bought from a thrift store yesterday. For dinner, we cooked up a meat pie and asparagus Rod bought while he was out with the kids. It was delicious! We watched Princess Mononoke, an animated movie, and went to bed.

She told us later her suitcase weighed 47 pounds!

 March 5-6, 2025.  We have safely arrived in Tuscany! It was a total of 24 hours of continuous traveling from door to door (Allendale to Montelopio). The views and weather are worth it!  The temperatures are highs in the upper 60s during the day and lows in the 40s at night.  The "Core 4" (that's shorthand for Rod, Katie, Paul, and Clare) playing Euchre in the Chicago airport during our 5 hour layover.  March 8, 2025  Today we explored the town of Peccioli, Italy which has its origins dating back to medieval times. The town's most notable historical feature is the Pieve di San Verano church built around the 11th-12th century.  We had our first gelato of the trip while in Peccioli. Yum!
