May 24, 2025   A Lazy RAINY Day.


The weather we were expecting and packed for finally arrived. We had a day of on and off rain that affected when we planned our outings and how many for the day. We stayed in town and did some minor shopping between raindrops, played cards and board games, and ate all our meals at home. Rod and I talked the kids into watching Goonies, thinking it was necessary pop culture information they should have, and realized we didn't like it much the second time around either. Too much screaming!

 March 5-6, 2025.  We have safely arrived in Tuscany! It was a total of 24 hours of continuous traveling from door to door (Allendale to Montelopio). The views and weather are worth it!  The temperatures are highs in the upper 60s during the day and lows in the 40s at night.  The "Core 4" (that's shorthand for Rod, Katie, Paul, and Clare) playing Euchre in the Chicago airport during our 5 hour layover.  March 8, 2025  Today we explored the town of Peccioli, Italy which has its origins dating back to medieval times. The town's most notable historical feature is the Pieve di San Verano church built around the 11th-12th century.  We had our first gelato of the trip while in Peccioli. Yum!
