March 26, 2025 Wandering around Porto Ceresio & a link to the Villa's listing on Airbnb
"Porto Ceresio: a port in the green. A charming Italian town on Lake Lugano originally called Lake Ceresio, the last piece of Italy leaning towards Switzerland in the middle of the Lombardy lakes."
Today, we selected a small lake town for a brief visit. It was only a 20 minute drive. We walked along the boardwalk, took in the views, tried their gelato, and came home.

Life in the Villa. Here is a link to Airbnb for some pictures of Villa Cambiaghi built in 1890 as a summer home. The grandparents of Valentina bought the home in 1938 and, after the bombing of Milan in 1943, were forced to move here full time until the war ended and the family was able to return to Milan and resume using the villa as a summer home. In 2017, Valentina and Adriano began living here full time again after they sold their large flat in Milan and purchased a small flat in Milan. They both still work and travel to town often by train.

Two copper sinks with a marble countertop. |
An AGA stove, "a cast-iron, heat-storage range that uses radiant heat to cook food..." |
A bucket of coal. Not sure if it goes in the AGA stove or not. |
Thankfully, next to the AGA stove is this modern baby! This is what we have been using. |
Another look at the copper sinks. |
The box on the wall seems to make the hot water. The dishwasher is a wonderful modern convenience too! |
Our host couple employ a housekeeper, and every evening the small table in the kitchen is set for dinner. However, Valentina, our host, cooks for herself and her husband Adriano. |
Radiator heat installed in 1938-39 when the villa was remodeled and a 3rd floor added. |
Modern appliances. |
And, of course, "Alexa". Valentina says she only uses her for a cooking timer. Alexa can speak many languages! |
That's all for now on the villa. I might post more on another day.
